Helping Hands of Christ the Healer

The Journey Begins

Christ the Healer Medical Mission has worked for over 20 years to improve the medical care in one of the poorest areas of Nicaragua.  Volunteers of more than 75 mission trips have helped the Archdiocese of New Orleans develop strong relations with the Diocese of Granada, Nicaragua.  The desire for mission is strong in the Archdiocese of New Orleans so a new mission group of non-medical volunteers has been developed—Helping Hands of Christ the Healer

Non-medical participants will now have another way to serve the people of Granada.  The focus will be on building, repairing and work with the local people. Some projects may include improvements to the medical and dental clinic facilities, support for Our Lady of Fatima Church, special needs at Los Niños, and building relationships with Hogar Albertina.

The goal is to work hand in hand with local volunteers who want to make a difference in their own neighborhoods. Upon need, support for other organizations is also possible.  The goal is not to change the environment.  The goal is to share God's love through action.

Transportation will limit be to 20 missionaries.  All missionaries are responsible for all of their own expenses. To ensure commitment and miscellaneous expenses are covered, $150 per individual is required.  All expenses are the responsibility of each volunteer.  Past trips indicate expenses average $1,500 per person.  This includes airfare, hotel, meals and general spending.
